On May 29, 2012 at around 10:00 pm, Ujjal Hossain (26) son of late Lokman Hossain Shordar and Momena Khatun of Mahmudpur village, Sathia Thana, Pabna district was brought to the lock‐up of the Pabna District and Sessions Judge Court from Pabna district jail for the hearing of his case. At around 12pm when Ujjal’s mother Momena Khatun and wife Bashona went to give him food at the lock‐up, Habildar Moslem Uddin who was on duty then, asked for money from Ujjal as a bribe. When he hesitated to give the bribe, Habildar Moslem Uddin got into an argument with him. At one point Habildar Moslem Uddin handcuffed Ujjal, brought him out of the lock up and beat him in the court premises. After that other policemen rescued Ujjal and took him to Pabna Medical College Hospital.
